Tests PIT and PDA

We performed the following non-destructive tests on stilts.

Integrity test (PIT):

The PIT test aims to verify the physical integrity and to detect possible anomalies in the cuttings. The PIT test is highly recommended for piles molded in place of all types and diameters, and can also be applied very effectively in cuttings pre-cast concrete.

The PIT test runs setting a high sensitivity accelerometer at the top of the cuttings, which should be adequately prepared to ensure a good signal acquisition PIT. They are subsequently applied several consecutive blows with a hammer adapted to obtain the PIT signals that are sent directly to a laptop computer and analyzed further in the field.

The PIT test is fast and does not interfere in the progress of the work. You can test a lot of stakes in a single day, provided that the conditions of preparation and access to the stakes are satisfactory.

Dynamic loading test (PDA) (PDA)

The PDA test is performed by installing sensors (accelerometers and strain transducers specific) in stem cuttings. After applying the blows, the signals received by the PDA sensors are sent directly to a portable electronic equipment (PDA - Pile DrivingAnalyzer), which stores and processes online. In addition to breaking capacity of the soil, other important data can be obtained during the test run PDA, such as maximum tensile and compressive material in the pile, information about the integrity of the foundation element, energy actually transferred to the stake during strikes (efficiency of spiking) and maximum displacements of the pile.

The test PDA is recommended in all types of cuttings, including those of large diameter and even caissons.

Test Hole Cross

Integrity test recommended for cast in place piles of large diameter. The test Cross Hole is performed with the aid of equipment known as CHUM (Cross Hole Ultrasonic Monitor) analyzing the quality and consistency of the concrete body regions between the pole tube preinstalled in the vertical direction along the length of the pile .

Transmitting a probe, inserted in a tube, sends a high frequency signal through the concrete, which is detected by a receiving probe installed in another tube. The pair of probes then performs scanning upwardly examining the concrete pile to find variations in propagation time and intensity of the wave.

The Test Hole Cross is able to accurately detect significant anomalies in concrete piles, such as cracks, nips, cavities, voids, segregation and also contamination that can significantly compromise the safe use of stakes in projects.
